These are the acoustic waves of a couple saying “I do.” I’m pretty sure the linguist in me just died from the awesomeness of this.

I’m calling this now, so my friends can’t do it later.
Also, the light sconces are pretty genious.

I just came back from a tutoring session at Coffee Bean. Having spent an almost ungodly amount of time there, I’ve seen my fair share of interesting people. But today, I think I saw the most interesting pair of customers ever.
In the middle of explaining the complexities of compound inequalities to my student, I noticed the sound of a joyous little boy behind me. He was learning to read! Another voice joined him, and it was that of a kind-sounding man. I turned around, and it was such a sight to see. Their tables were strewn with handouts for reading and counting exercises. My goodness. Cute doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Since I couldn’t stare, I turned back around and focused on my own student. Then I heard that the boy was writing three-letter words that end in “g.” He’d written, “big”, “fig”, and probably, “pig”. He wanted to write, “gig”, and then this conversation happened:
Man: What do you think gig means?
Kid: Like a laugh!
Man: You think it’s short for giggle?
Kid: -giggles as if he’s high on life-
If my ovaries hadn’t been tingling before, they were now. Even I had to laugh.
Then they moved on to counting, and I think the kid pretended he didn’t know how to count past one hundred. Then the man told him he could. And it was just absolutely adorable. He was so patient, and the little boy was on a sugar high from whatever blended drink he got. I got a total kick out of it. I wanted to be his tutor!
Did I mention that the guy was probably in his early 20s, cute, and doing his own math homework? Cute, young, and doing math. Lady Nerds, I’ll give you a minute to put your pants back on.
Are you ready? Here’s the kicker.
As I was leaving, the man and the little boy were at the counter presumably ordering another drink. Then the guy asked the boy, “Do you want to read her name tag?” He lifted the boy as he attempted to read the cashier’s nametag. It was Kaylie (or something), but I think the boy messed it up a little bit. Then the three of them had a laugh—which I would have loved to be a part of, but I digress—and…the guy kissed the boy on the cheek.
My uterus exploded.
I’m starting to like little kids, so whatever that little boy was doing came across as unbelievably cute in my book. I’ve always liked men, so combined with kids, I like them even more. This pair of cuties was almost too much to handle. I had thought they were just tutor and tutee, but maybe they’re related? Maybe that’s his son. OMG, a father teaching his son to read and count? I CAN’T. I CAN’T, YOU GUYS.
As I exited Coffee Bean, the man caught my glance, and we exchanged smiles. I’m a total sucker for cute guys with cute children, it’s not even funny.
So my friend Kevin made a CD for his (lucky) girlfriend as an anniversary gift. This is one of the songs he recorded.
I know this guy through DCMF and Stickam. His parents would come in to hug and kiss him good night, and we’d all make fun of him endlessly. And then he got himself a girlfriend! Man, they grow up fast.
He’s cute. She’s cute.
Together, they’re SO. CUTE.
